My name is Fernando Ferreira, I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I started skateboarding in 1989, when my brother and I got a board for Christmas. It was love at first sight and from then on, skateboarding would be a central part in my life. I enrolled in the bachelor in physical education course at the UFRJ, the prestigious federal university of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. While in college I worked as a skateboard instructor and as a swimming teacher. It was in college that I discovered two of my greatest passions: philosophy and photography. The latter became the reason for my dropping out of college.

I started photographing skateboarding in 2004. I worked with all the major skateboard magazines in Brazil, and was a staff photographer of 100%SKATE, the main Brazilian skate magazine for 4 years. In 2009 I started working with Nike, initially with the skateboard division but later on with other areas of the company until 2014.

In 2019 I decided to come to India for a year of volunteering in Bangalore, in a life sharing community for special needs adults in Bangalore. There I met someone and we got married, and now I live in Chennai. Skateboarding is my life passion, the activity I'm engaged with for more than 3/4 of my life. I'm starting my life here in India and I would love to be part of the emerging skate scene in India somehow.
